Take to the water from nearby Seahouses, where regular boat trips leave for the nearby Farne Islands, home to puffins, seals and dolphins. Or stay on dry land with a trip to the market town of Alnwick to browse the numerous independent shops.

Great location for accessing local attractions. Very friendly pub round the corner. However, the frequent passage of high speed trains, sometimes two at a time, was very disturbing. Like an earthquake. It shook the chair and rattled the glasses. The enclosed garden is not accessible directly from the house, so was inconvenient with a dog.

Lovely clean, modern, comfortable cottage in a nice setting. There are trains running frequently directly behind & the cottage shakes when they pass but they stop at night & once we were used to them it didn't really bother us. Dog owners beware - the enclosed garden is not directly accessible from the cottage door. You will need to put them on a lRead moreead to take them to the garden. Very well appointed cottage. Clean, bright and airy, with a nice outside seating area. But be aware that it is just a few feet from the East Coast Mainline railway, which has many trains passing every hour, and through the night. Newton Halt North is set in a small quiet village about one and a half miles from Embleton but, because they have the road closed for construction traffic this now means you have to go a further half mile along the road and back on yourself making it a two and a half miles instead. The cottage is next to a railway line and the bedroom rumbles a bitRead more when a freight train goes past. You get used to this. Property suited our needs ideally. Perfect for 3 and a small dog! Everything was present that we could have wished for & the welcome package was a lovely touch. The only less than positive thing was the proximity to the railway, right at the back of the property. The trains flew by very often and even at night. Maybe if we had stayed longer than 5 Read morenights we mighthave got used to them. A lovely fresh and airy cottage, in a quiet village but you have to get used to the trains passing at the rear. Ideal for the train enthusiast. Very central to the coast and not too far away from places of interest to visit.

Weve just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay here. My daughter now calls it her holiday home! Such a great find for anyone with a dog too as theyre some lovely local walks close by. The accommodation has all the mod cons, well equipped kitchen with everything you need, very comfy beds, and amazing views. The beach is a short drive down the roadRead more with 2 fantastic pubs. The cottage was very cosy, especially with the wood burner. Very nicely decorated and furnished. Newton Halt North had everything, the comfort, the location, the cleanliness, everything was perfect. This was our first visit in Northumberland and we really enjoyed our stay at Low Newton cottage. We'd love to come back some time soon.

The cottage is lovely. Great views we saw a barn owl nightly and a sparrowhawk daily hunting. Noise didn't bother us from trains rather fascinated the kids. Farne islands trips are a must we all loved that.

Newton halt north is a lovely cottage, well suited to 4 persons. Had everything we needed and is very conveniently located near major attractions. We very much enjoyed Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the Serenity Boat Cruise round the Farne Islands from Seahouses. Be aware that the only place we could not take our dog was Alnwick Castle and Gardens,Read more everywhere else was very dog friendly and beaches open to dogs all year round. We used Baseys Doggy Day Care rather than leave the dog in the cottage. Very helpful and friendly. Would definitely return to this cottage. Hide

In nice location. Everything very clean and tidy. Cottage just as described with everything we needed. Situated in a very pretty village close to many attractions, close to the sea and many pretty walks.
