This charming property is located in the picturesque hamlet of Bilton, with the lovely coastal town of Alnmouth just a 15 minute walk away. Alnmouth offers a choice of great restaurants, cafes and gift shops, and has a beautiful golden beach. Just a few miles away is the vibrant market town of Alnwick, home of the historic Alnwick Castle and the celebrated Alnwick Garden. National Cycle Route 1 runs through the area and there are many popular seaside villages to explore including Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell, Warkworth, Newton-by-the-Sea, Craster, Amble and Howick. You can also enjoy boat trips out to see the birdlife on Coquet Island or the Farne Islands, or visit the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

On entering this attractive and snug single-level ground-floor holiday home, you will find yourself in the spacious and welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner/bedroom. With plenty of comfy seating, Smart TV, DVD, a traditional wood burner and fantastic views over the River Aln Valley, the cosy and inviting lounge is a perfect space for relaxing in at the end of a fantastic day exploring the glorious Northumberland countryside. You will also find a charming dining area, and the attractively designed kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven, hob, under counter fridge, microwave and toaster. The property features a cosy double wall bed with a full thickness sprung interior mattress. You will also find a shower room complete with a shower and a WC.

French doors lead out from the living area and into the lovely private patio garden with outdoor furniture, where you can unwind and dine alfresco. Private parking is available.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We stayed at The Summerhouse the last week in October and it had quite limited heat sources, advance warning to bring plenty of wood for the burner. That said you could keep the main living area pretty warm during the evening with the wood burner and a blanket. The space was used perfectly with enough room for a couple and a small dog and the kitchRead moreen was clean had everything you might need. A compact property in a lovely location, ideal for one or two people (and dog). Great views and ideally placed for countryside and coast. Our only gripe was that the fold down bed was not particularly comfortable. Its otherwise a great little property.

Great little cottage ideal for 2 and a dog, lovely view out the back over the fields. Ideal location for visiting places around the area. Takes about half an hour to walk to town and the beach and 10 minutes by car. Parking in town can be hard but plenty of room on the beach front, 2 for all day. Alnmouth has great beaches and lovely walks.

View wonderful and location good, 25 min walk to beach and closer to railway station, direct trains to Newcastle, Durham and Edinburgh. Good tv and nice selection of DVDs. Internet fine. Cleaning could have been better, some mould/cobwebs. For us, bed was a bit small/uncomfortable, but perhaps to be expected with a fold down bed. The Summerhouse is a lovely small cottage, perfect for two people. The views are stunning and it is an easy 20 minute walk into Alnmouth for restaurants, shops etc. Perfect base for exploring Northumberland; most places are less than a half hour drive. Alternatively, there's loads of walking and lovely villages on walking routes on the doorstep.

View from window was magnificent. I did not consider the beach and shops were within walking distance as stated in the 'need to know' section. They were almost 2 miles away and we, in our late 70s, couldn't not walk there and back, which was disappointing. Whilst parking was not easy, it was possible. The view from the window was breath-taking. It was lovely to see blue tits on the fence, about a metre away from where we were sitting. Pheasants, peewit, cattle and calves, hares and French partridge were regular visitors. A roe deer strolled past in the early morning and a curlew flew overhead. We had a very pleasant, relaxing stay at The Summerhouse. It is well equipped with very comfortable bed and furnishings. It was very peaceful and had expansive views from the windows. It is about a 25 minute walk down into the town but the station is a very short walk away if you want to travel further afield. We took a 20 minute drive to Cragside Read moreand would thoroughly recommend it. The grounds are huge with plenty play areas for children, wildlife hide, formal gardens and ponds. We were there in March but we would love to return late May /early June to see the grounds when the rhododendrons are out in full bloom. You could easily spend a whole day at Cragside if the weather was pleasant. Hide

The Summerhouse is cleverly furnished so that everything you could need fits into it's compact interior. It's cosy and comfortable with a beautiful view from the picture window which we never tired of.

The Summerhouses is a lovely peaceful location with bedding and towels provided. Nice wee log burner - bring your own fuel. WiFi available. Closest beach 1 mile away which we drove to. Located a short walk from a mainline railway, ideal for exploring further afield.

The cottage is cosy and its beauty comes from the view given by the picture window. It's close to Alnwick and Alnmouth with their various attractions. In Alnmouth a book of short walks can be purchased which take in the local area and gives information about it.

Just stayed, yet again, in this WONDERFUL little place. we have been coming here every year for almost 10 years now, and i can't recommend it enough ! So peaceful & beautiful at Bilton (nr. Alnmouth) We have stayed at various times of the year and the view out of the magnificent huge window, overlooking the countryside, is just breathtaking, and chRead moreanges month by month. they've just had a SUPER new kitchen re-vamp. (and the "tatty" {RUSTIC} old gate, which i loved before anyway, has just had a make-over) We've even been twice some years, we like it that much. The owners, a lovely couple who live nearby, are the kind of people who would "go the extra mile" to help you when in need. Eleven out of ten ! Excellent all round !!! Hide

Lovely cosy cottage, with fantastic wood burning stove and amazing views. The Summerhouse suited us as we came by train -and the station is just a few minutes walk away. We walked along the coastal path; to Amble one day and Craster the next. Each time we had lunch in local pubs before getting the bus back. If we came again we'd hire bikes from AlnRead moremouth station - making it easier to get in and out of the village from The Summerhouse. Ideal cottage for two, great places to eat in Alnmouth especially Bistro 23, fantastic evening meal but only open for evenings on a Saturday and Wednesday night but also do great food for dinner, (try the pepper and tomato soup with a hint of chilli), the village tea rooms also do really large tea cakes and welcomes dogs. In Alnmouth, barter books Read moreis a must and the Swan Hotel do a great 3 course evening meal, (you can use virgin experience vouchers here as well). We also used the village post office in Alnmouth for a delivery of groceries and Nick not only delivered but also put everything into the cottage along with food into the fridge/freezer, great service. The cottage was just as described on the web site with a beautiful picture window. very cosy with the log burner lit. Very near to fantastic dog friendly beaches. Lovely local shops especially Alnmouth village store. Everybody we met was very warm and friendly, ensuring we had a fabulous holiday.
