Lavender Cottage, Lesbury

Dating back to the 1700’s, this delightful character cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Lesbury, Northumberland next to the village hall. The cottage is within half an hour’s walk of the stunning beach at Alnmouth and within easy reach of many local attractions and golf courses on the Northumberland Coast.

The cottage has been very recently redecorated and refurnished to provide a very good standard of accommodation for a family or group of up to six people. The cosy sitting room comes complete with an inglenook open fireplace (for burning logs), Freeview TV, DVD and CD player and the elegant dining room is furnished to a very high standard. Upstairs there are three bedrooms; the master bedroom has a small nursery leading off, with travel cot. There are two further bedrooms, one to the rear overlooking the back garden and village bowling green. With a fully equipped kitchen with oil fired Aga cooker, dishwasher and washing machine, this cottage offers all you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay near the Northumberland coast.

Large downstairs bathroom with a shower over the bath, WC, basin, and heated towel rail.

Kitchen : Oil fired Aga cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave oven, dishwasher, washing machine, table and four chairs.
Living Room : Comfortable sofas, Inglenook open fireplace for burning logs, drinks cupboard, Freeview TV, DVD player, CD player, books and games.
Dining Room : Traditional welsh dresser, long case clock, table and six chairs, stone Inglenook.

Notes on accommodation
Lavender Cottage is situated in the heart of the pretty village of Lesbury in Northumberland. The village is on the River Aln and is around 30 minutes walk to the coast. The village has its own friendly pub which serves good food. There is a local bus service from the village to Newcastle City centre and the local railway station, a ten minute walk away, is on the Edinburgh to London mainline.

Special interest holidays
“The most exciting and friendly region in the whole of England” (Lonely Planet Blue list 2008) The cottage is in an ideal location for lovely walks, with the coast only a short walk away. Other stunning coastal walks are only a short drive away at Bamburgh, Beadnell, Craster and Newton by the Sea. There are lots of golf courses nearby including the Foxton Golf course in Alnmouth. This area is of great interest to geologists and birdwatchers with easy access to bird sanctuaries on both the Farne Islands and Coquet Island nearby.

Travel
From the south continue on the A1(M) past Newcastle and Morpeth following signs for Alnwick. Take the exit road for Alnwick and at the roundabout go straight over past the garage; continue on following signs for Alnmouth /Alnwick (1068). At the roundabout next to The Oak Inn pub turn right and follow the sign marked Ashington (1068) follow this road until you will see a sign marking the entrance to Lesbury village. At the next roundabout turn left into the main street, carry on just past the Coach Inn pub. Lavender Cottage on Garden Terrace is the last cottage on the terrace on the left hand side next to the Church hall.

This is the perfect destination for anyone planning to visit Northumberland. The cottage is very close to Alnwick with its castle, well known to Harry Potter fans and the creative Alnwick Gardens complete with cascading fountains and Tree house. Alnwick also hosts international festivals of dance and music, delicious fish and chips, smart restaurants, pubs, wine bars and galleries, a pottery, The House of Hardy fishing museum, the Alnwick Playhouse and famous Barter books. There are also miles of beautiful beach from Alnmouth (five minutes drive) to Bamburgh (approx 15 minutes drive) with golf course close by at Foxton and Alnmouth and many others with spectacular views across the North Sea and Cheviots. Other local activities include horse riding, climbing, walking, fishing, boat trips to the Farne islands or visits to many castles, houses and gardens and Holy island, not forgetting Chillingham Castle with its own breed of wild cattle, there is lots to do and see making the location suitable for visitors of all ages.

A deposit of a third of the price of the holiday (or a £100 minimum) will be required to secure the booking. The balance is to be paid six weeks before your holiday starts.
